Background
- Dr Tay Miah Hiang is an oncologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore.
- He is experienced in treating prostate, kidney, testicular and bladder cancers, as well as gynaecological cancers like ovarian and uterine/cervical cancers. He is also skilled in treating gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary cancers, lung cancer and brain tumours.
- Dr Tay was a former consultant at National Cancer Centre’s Department of Medical Oncology, and was the chairperson of their patient education and patient survivorship programmes.
- Dr Tay previously held teaching appointments as clinical teacher and faculty of medicine at the National University of Singapore, and was also a lecturer for the first Singapore Medical Oncology Review Course in 2007 involving surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and physicians.
- He is also active in contributing to continuous medical education in the region, giving lectures in cancer management to cancer specialists, general practitioners, medical students and patients.
- He has been actively involved in clinical and translational research for many years, in genito-urinary and other cancers. His research work has been published in both local and international journals including Urology, Cancer, and Annals of Oncology.
- He has won numerous awards for his service excellence and humanity contribution to disaster-inflicted regions during the post-Afghanistan war, as well as his work in tsunami-hit areas in Sri Lanka.
