  • Dr Tang Kok Kee qualified as a surgeon in 1994. From 1997 to 2000, he trained in neurosurgery in England, UK. There, he trained under the late Dr Anthony Hockley at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and under Professor Garth Cruickshank and Dr Graham Flint at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. During this period, he attained experience in a wide spectrum of childhood and adult neurosurgical problems.
  • In 2003, Dr Tang was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award to train in paediatric neurosurgery at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, California, USA. He was supervised by Professor Dachling Pang, an expert in spinal problems and hydrocephalus (accumulation of fluid in the brain).
  • Dr Tang’s research interests include evaluating brain compliance under conditions such as increased pressure in the skull, trauma, brain swelling and fluid build-up in the brain.
  • In 2004, Dr Tang was a co-investigator of the research project titled ‘noninvasive study correlating magnetic resonance imaging and clinical findings’ by the Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). The findings have since been published in both local and international journals.
