Background
- Dr Anselm Lee is a paediatrician practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in children’s cancer and in paediatric haematology, which is the treatment of blood diseases in children.
- Dr Lee performed the 1st bone marrow transplant in the region for thalassaemia, an inherited blood disorder, after which the transplant has become a conventional treatment for patients. In 1994, Dr Lee also performed the 1st case of umbilical cord blood transplantation in Hong Kong.
- Dr Lee completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Hong Kong in 1986 and underwent postgraduate training in the Department of Paediatrics at the Queen Mary Hospital in the University of Hong Kong. He received the Croucher Foundation fellowship award and pursued subspecialty training in children’s cancer and bone marrow transplant.
- Dr Lee was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, and subsequently a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health of the United Kingdom, the Academy of Medicine of Singapore and the Hong Kong College of Physicians.
- Dr Lee has been a council member of the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Study Group and the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group. He is also a member of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology, the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Study Group, and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and the Paediatric Society of Hong Kong.
