- Dr Roy Koh completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2000 and subsequently obtained his basic surgical training in 2004. He then received his Master of Medicine (Surgery) in Singapore and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2006. Thereafter, he received advanced surgical training in neurosurgery in 2008. In 2010, Dr Koh went on a fellowship with the Neurosurgical Department in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, UK and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK.
- Dr Koh is also trained in managing brain cancer and brain vessel diseases, performing minimally invasive surgery for stroke patients, clipping of brain aneurysms, removal of brain tumours, drainage of bleeding in the skull and skull base surgery. He is also trained to perform minimal access neurosurgery and the use of gamma knife radiosurgery.
- Previously, Dr Koh was a consultant neurosurgeon in the Department of Surgery at the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in Singapore, where he established the combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine service. He also organised the first bedside intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring course in KTPH in 2011 and chaired a course on the fundamentals in minimal access spinal surgeries at the KTPH advanced surgery training centre in the National University Hospital in 2014. Since 2014, Dr Koh has continued to serve as a visiting consultant to KTPH to train medical students, fellows and trainee surgeons. Dr Koh is also an adjunct assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
- In 2013, Dr Koh was a visiting specialist surgeon to the Vietnamese Neurosurgical Congress to present his minimally invasive spine techniques.
