- Dr Guo completed his advanced specialist training in cardiology at the National Heart Centre Singapore. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from SingHealth for further specialisation in adult congenital heart disease and advanced cardiac imaging in Canada. He completed his fellowship under the mentorship of Professor Ariane Marelli, Dr Judith Therrien and Dr Luc Jutras at the McGill University Health System in Montreal, Quebec.
- He received a testamur in Special Competence in adult echocardiography and advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography and has attained Level 2 certification in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
- Dr Guo has experience in both non-invasive and invasive cardiac imaging, and is trained in advanced trans-thoracic and trans-esophageal echocardiography, including congenital echocardiography, strain imaging and 3-dimensional echocardiography, as well as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for assessment of patients with ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy and complex congenital heart disease.
- He has performed right and left heart catheterisation, including coronary angiography, and treated patients born with congenital heart disease, ranging from simple atrial septal defects to diseases of moderate severity, such as Tetralogy of Fallot, and complex conditions such as univentricular heart complex and Eisenmenger syndrome.
- Prior to his private practice, Dr Guo was a consultant cardiologist at the National Heart Centre, Singapore and a visiting consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dr Guo has made significant contributions for cardiology education and training. He has numerous publications and presentations at both local and overseas conferences, and was an adjunct assistant professor at the SingHealth-Duke NUS Academic Medical Centre, a core faculty member at the SingHealth Residency Programme in internal medicine and the SingHealth Senior Residency Programme in cardiology, a senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and a lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Science (Cardiac Technology) at Singapore Polytechnic.
